The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering offers four bachelor study programs listed below:

  • Mechatronics - BSc 180 ECTS

The program provides in the second and the third-year specific subjects Project I and II. In these specific subjects students are motivated for solving real mechatronic tasks. The program is organized with the aims to give students solid theoretical and practical fundaments and also applicable knowledge if they intend to stop their education after the first bologna cycle. • Traffic and Transport – BSc 180 ECTS

The program content in Bachelor studies enables students to gain an expanded base of engineering knowledge, sufficient skills and experience for individual and collective work in solving concrete problems in practice in the fields of traffic and transport, as well as provides an adequate basis for continuing studies further studies.

Upon successful completion of the basic Bachelor studies the student will be able to:

  • Recognize the fundamental disciplines in the field of transport engineering at the level of contemporary trends and developments,
  • Conduct the field data gathering and analysis of traffic flow nonlinearities,
  • Estimate the capacity and level of service at different parts of road networks and particular nodes-intersections,
  • Compile the traffic signal timing plans,
  • Define the dynamic and static elements of the traffic network and determine the route and demand of transport,
  • Road safety audit,
  • Select adequate methods when planning movements.

Traffic engineers mainly work on the recording, analysis, planning, maintenance and      development of road and rail infrastructure, traffic flow management in order to increase the level of road or rail safety.

  • Thermoenergetics and Renewable Energy – BSc 180 ECTS

This very important social field aims initially at its general knowledge, study and efficient use of thermoenergetic equipment, knowledge of fundamental subjects from thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and in the field of renewable energy sources, and their application in Engineering mechanical in order to improve the standard.

Studies from the Thermoenergetics and Renewable Energy Program are organized at the Bachelor and Master level.

The program content in the Bachelor studies enables students to gain an expanded base of engineering knowledge, sufficient skills and experience for individual and collective work in solving concrete problems in practice in the field of Thermoenergetics and Thermotechnics, as well as provides an adequate basis for continuing of further studies.

Upon successful completion of the basic Bachelor studies the student will be able to:

  • Distinguish thermal and thermotechnical equipment, renewable energies, and
  • know the processes that are performed with them,
  • To know the fundamental disciplines in the field of thermoenergetics engineering and renewable energies at the level of science and contemporary developments,
  • To be able to assess the importance, potential and economic usefulness of various renewable sources (solar, wind, geothermal, water, biomass) as well as their integration into the overall energy system
  • To make the recording and thermal balance of buildings and other thermal expenditures,
  • Make designs related to heating, cooling, ventilation and air conditioning
  • Compile a plan for the maintenance and use of equipment
  • To understand the nature and engineering aspect of forms of conversion of renewable energy and to possess with basic professional knowledge in the field of conversion and use of energy.

  • Industrial Engineering and Management – BSc 180 ECTS

Industrial engineering is the branch of engineering that concerns the development, improvement, implementation and evaluation of integrated systems of people, knowledge, equipment, energy, material and process. Industrial engineering draws upon the principles and methods of engineering analysis and synthesis. It eliminates waste of time, money, materials, energy and other resources. Industrial Engineering is also known as Operations management, Production Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering depending on the viewpoint or motives of the user. In lean manufacturing systems, Industrial engineers work to eliminate wastage of time, money, materials, energy, and other resources.

This is engineering stream is related to understanding, development and implementation of systems involving human being and other resources. In this course of study student will learn about the methods to manage and optimum utilization of resources available by applying mathematical and engineering tools.

During first year student will learn about basic engineering subjects like mathematics, physics and other engineering subjects. In later years they study about Product Design and Development, work systems, logistics, production planning and inventory control, Operation research, Quality Control, Welding, metal cutting, metal forming and recently Intellectual property system.
Industrial engineers are suitable for any industry, right from manufacturing to planning, consultancy to software, logistics to supply chain management. There is big opportunity for higher education in Industrial engineering in the field of supply chain management, Operation research, Inventory management and Intellectual properties rights.
