PhD ICT KES
Project: The development and implementation of a PhD Program in ICT for the Kosovo Education System (PhDICTKES).
PhD ICT KES is an EU funded project within the Erasmus+ Key Action 2 program and led by the Linnaeus University, Sweden. The project is planned to be implemented within three years Novermber 15th 2019 to November 14th 2022.
University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” (UP) is the only Higher Education Institution in Kosovo which has for years been providing PhD study programs in the area of ICT (PhD in Computer Engineering), and is currently in the phase of accreditation with a new PhD study program in the field. Moreover, UP is the only university in the country with tradition and accredited in all three levels of studies, bachelor, master and PhD in Computer Engineering, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
The aim of the project is to engage in providing a set of recommendations for PhD studies suited to Kosovo needs, namely to develop a curricula model as well as guidelines, strategy and regulatory documentation on its implementation. Further, a “National PhD in ICT School” is to be established to facilitate the PhD studies in the field for Kosovo following the experiences from EU partner country universities participating in the project. Apart from academia, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the accreditation body in Kosovo are also involved in the project implementation to cover the policy issues related to the PhD studies, as well as business representatives to close the cycle of parties of interest to shape and support the studies in this field in PhDs.
The UP has the chance to benefit from the project by extending experiences in designing, developing and implementing curriculas at the PhD level in the field of ICT given the experience of the partner universities from the EU participating in the project, and through involving its staff and students in the project, but also by setting up new research infrastructure, as well as advancing its practices in support of PhD studies in the prospective field of ICT for Kosovo.
