Rector Arben Hajrullahu and the Trade Commissioner at the Canadian Embassy, Synthia Dodig, discussed expanding contacts and cooperation between the University of Prishtina and Canadian universities.

The Canadian official informed Rector Hajrullahu that Canada is an associated member of the European Union's "Horizon" program for scientific research and innovation, from which professors at the University of Prishtina have benefited.

The University of Prishtina and Canadian universities will also enhance their cooperation within the Erasmus+ program, an EU initiative supporting education, training, youth, and sport.

On November 6, the University of Prishtina signed its first-ever memorandum of cooperation with Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.

Commissioner Synthia Dodig mentioned that Carleton University has an excellent Department of Earth Sciences - Geology, which could be a potential area for collaboration.

The University of Prishtina may soon also sign a cooperation agreement with the Centre for European and Eurasian Studies at the University of Toronto.
