The University of Prishtina has become part of the alliance of European universities "European University for Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Societies" (EUPeace), joining other prestigious universities, such as Justus Liebig University in Gizen, (Germany), University of Marburg (Germany), University of Limoges (France), University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (Czech Republic), University of Comillas (Spain), University of Calabria (Italy), University of Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Çukurova University in Adana (Turkey).

Our mission in this alliance has its foundations laid in the European Commission's European Strategy for Universities, which underlines the key role of universities in "promoting the study of law and building strong institutions, promoting human rights and international norms and standards.” At the same time, many current policy documents issued by EU bodies emphasize the role of higher education and research institutions in promoting peace, justice, and inclusive societies. This initiative is also related to the UN Agenda - 2030, which underlines that "sustainable development cannot be realized without peace and security.”

Within this alliance, joint and innovative teaching and learning experiences will be developed in which students, regardless of their study program, learn to understand the ultimate and proximate causes of conflict situations – including aspects of environmental and technological interdependence, as well as gain experience in how to manage conflicts effectively.

EUPeace consists of higher education institutions, both within the European Union (six institutions) and also within the European Higher Education Area (three institutions). Thus, the consortium reflects the diversity of Europe and its cultures. Each member in this partnership brings a specific history and sensitivity to the challenges of peace, justice, and inclusive societies, which come from its specific context and institutional trajectory.
