Kosovo has become a candidate member of the European Education Research Association (EERA) following two years of relentless work by the Faculty of Education at the University of Prishtina, along with other institutes and organizations in the education sector.

Kosovo’s application to join this association—one of the most significant in the field of educational research in Europe—was approved by the EERA Council during a meeting held in Berlin on March 14–15, 2025.

In addition to researchers from the University of Prishtina and the Faculty of Education, the membership process was supported by the Kosovo Pedagogical Institute, non-governmental organizations, and a broader group of the country’s education professionals.

For Kosovo’s educational researchers, Kosovo’s admission as a candidate member of the European Education Research Association will enable more active participation in the European Conference on Educational Research (ECER), access to reduced fees, opportunities for cooperation, networking, knowledge exchange, and greater visibility in European research networks.

To become a full member of EERA, Kosovo must establish a National Educational Research Association—a process to be led by the Faculty of Education at the University of Prishtina, with valuable assistance from the European Education Research Association.

This association brings together over 40 national educational research associations from various countries in the region and across Europe.
