The extraordinary meeting of the Senate of the University of Prishtina, scheduled for today, February 28, 2025, was not held due to a lack of quorum as determined by the administration. The meeting had only one agenda item — the review of the Evaluation Commission's proposal for position number seven from the May 31, 2023, competition in the Faculty of Philosophy.
Six individuals had applied for this assistant professor position, and the Rector's Advisory Body, after rescinding the previous decision, found violations in the candidate evaluation process for the competition.
At the Senate meeting on February 21, 2025, senators requested additional information and agreed to examine this issue in an extraordinary meeting, considering the possibility of establishing an evaluation commission composed of highly reputable academic professors from UP and internationally, tasked with re-evaluating the candidates in the competition.
Before closing the meeting, Rector Hajrullahu noted that there was no willingness to address this case, emphasizing that he would not allow anonymous responsibility by hiding behind collegial bodies. He stated that he would inform again the University of Prishtina’s structures about the findings of this case and would thank the international professors who were willing to be commission members for selecting the most qualified candidate for position number 7 from the May 31, 2023, competition.
Considering this reality as only one side of the coin, Rector Hajrullahu said that there is another, brighter side, and reiterated firmly that he would make no compromises with legality and meritocracy.
For four positions in the May 31, 2023, competition, the Anti-Corruption Agency, in its opinion, had found conflicts of interest, reversing the entire process to the point where there was none. This was something the Senate had done in the meeting on November 27, 2024, by rescinding the advancements for these positions.
