The University of Prishtina received a total of 71744 citations in "Google Scholar Citations" from an examination of over 5000 universities in the most recent update of the month of July 2023, made by the Cybermetrics Lab, which is part of the Spanish National Research Council. This number is a gain of 15,226 citations over the previous edition in January 2023, when University of Prishtina had 56,518 citations. The cumulative rise from July 2022 to July 2023 is 27514 citations, compared to the prior six-month increase of 12288 citations. Meanwhile, the comparison between January 2022 and July 2023 reveals a 32,275 rise in citations.

The approach used in this edition, in the transparency category, is based on a compilation of citations from the top 310 public profiles of the most cited scholars, eliminating the first top 20. This method assures independence from the influence of the institution's size as well as representativeness from the remaining profiles.

Such indicators, without a doubt, play an essential part not only in ranking, but also in the university's foreign image.

The Rector of the University of Prishtina, Prof. Dr. Qerim Qerimi has expressed institutional gratitude for the university's most mentioned professors and underlined that they can achieve comparable and even greater success.

A number of actions have already been taken to improve the international ranking of the University of Prishtina and determine its true research power, including the correction and registration of academic staff members' profiles in "Google Scholar" with the university's official address. Simultaneously, activities are being made, such as the creation of access to academic databases and assistance for research projects, with the goal of raising and evaluating scientific work at the University of Prishtina.

Compared to other institutions, the University of Prishtina has more than twice the number of citations as all other Albanian-speaking universities combined.
