In a dialogue with students and teaching staff at the University of Pristina, held in the Senate Hall, European Parliament member Lukas Mandl spoke, among other topics, about democracy, education, the media, freedoms, and human dignity.

He thanked the attending students who have chosen to stay in Kosovo and invest in elevating their country’s reputation, stating that “this is the future.”

MEP Mandl then addressed security threats and expressed concern that democracies worldwide are under pressure, calling for the protection of freedoms and human dignity. He emphasized that “every person matters and must be treated equally.”

The distinguished guest opened topics for discussion, posed questions, and sought opinions from attendees, while also addressing the interests of students and professors regarding specific societal issues.

In his lecture, Mandl also mentioned the media and their role in democratic societies. He stated that “they must report what happens and not succumb to conspiracy theories.”

At the end, a short video was shown highlighting the activities and achievements of the “Alpbach European Forum”—an initiative that connects innovative young minds from diverse fields to build a strong and democratic Europe. Many UP students have benefited from this initiative.

The lecture by Austrian MEP Lukas Mandl was moderated by Rector Arben Hajrullahu, who earlier, along with his team, welcomed him in a separate meeting.
