In a meeting with the leaders of the "Sheikh Hamad" Award for Translation and International Understanding, Rector Arben Hajrullahu stated that linguistic and cultural differences should not be viewed as weaknesses but as strengths.

Rector Hajrullahu welcomed Labib Nahhas, the executive director of the "Sheikh Hamad" Award, and board member Professor Halit Eren. He told his guests that prejudices about people arise when they cannot communicate properly.

The "Sheikh Hamad" Award for Translation and International Understanding was established in Doha, Qatar, in 2015 to support translation worldwide to and from the Arabic language.

Pleased to be in Kosovo, Mr. Nahhas and Mr. Eren expressed their readiness to enhance cooperation with the University of Prishtina. The Faculty of Philology offers a program in Oriental Studies, which includes courses in the Arabic language.

The leaders of the award were accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Abdulla Rexhepi, and Professor Isa Memishi, who won the "Sheikh Hamad" Award for Translation and International Understanding in 2017 for compiling the Arabic-Albanian dictionary.

This award is given for the translation of individual books and for professional achievements in the field of translations from Arabic into various languages and vice versa.
