Cem Zorlu, Rector of Necmettin Erbakan University in Konya, Turkey, and Arben Hajrullahu, Rector of the University of Prishtina, explored opportunities and areas where the two institutions could support each other.
Rector Hajrullahu, while presenting the history and achievements of the University of Prishtina, also discussed the challenges faced by this higher education institution in competing with global universities in the era of artificial intelligence.
He informed his guest that the University of Prishtina seeks collaboration in the fields of science, engineering, and information technology, as the knowledge gained in these areas helps students find employment more easily in the future.
The Rector of the University of Prishtina also mentioned other potential areas of collaboration that may not be as attractive to the labor market but are essential for the spiritual, cultural, and historical spheres. He highlighted Kosova’s need for experts in Ottoman studies, as well as researchers and scholars knowledgeable in the language, customs, and practices of the Ottoman Empire.
Cem Zorlu, Rector of Necmettin Erbakan University, stated that if Kosovar students were to visit Konya and its university campuses, they would discover a hidden treasure. According to him, this region of Turkey is rich in historical monuments from various empires and dynasties.
He proposed joint scientific projects and research, as well as student exchange programs, and noted that Konya is home to five universities with a total of 130,000 students.
In the future, the University of Prishtina and Necmettin Erbakan University may sign a memorandum of understanding.
