In a conversation with Professor Alban Zeneli from the Department of Journalism, the Rector of the University of Prishtina, Arben Hajrullahu, stated that we must continuously prove that knowledge resides here at the university.

The main topic of the conversation was the challenges faced by the University of Prishtina during its digital transformation process. This process involves the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence by students, faculty, and administration, aiming to operate as a modern institution that aligns with the times we live in.

Rector Hajrullahu emphasized that without digitalization, and without raising the level of digitalization at the University of Prishtina, there can be no progress.

“Digitalization is a prerequisite for providing higher-quality teaching, more effective scientific research, and a more functional administration. It is also closely linked to the idea of good governance, which is characterized by transparency and accountability,” he explained.

The Rector also discussed the steps taken toward digitalization and the successes achieved in this process. He highlighted the use of QR codes to track the attendance of academic staff and student participation in lectures and exercises.

This method of tracking attendance, with very low material costs, was inaugurated for the first time in Kosovo at the Faculty of Medicine on December 13, 2024.

Rector Hajrullahu further mentioned that since taking leadership of the University of Prishtina, he has sought assistance from experts in international organizations to assess the university's current position in the digitalization process and to determine the way forward.

“The idea and goal are not to move forward without a plan or strategy, and to avoid making costly investments without proper planning,” said Rector Hajrullahu.

He emphasized that the University of Prishtina is the only institution in the Republic of Kosova licensed to offer doctoral studies. The rector warned that this university is not an isolated world; rather, it contributes to Kosovar society, as it has from the very beginning.

In conclusion, Rector Hajrullahu called for the most accurate and objective information to be provided about the country's largest and most successful university, noting that this responsibility mainly falls on the Department of Journalism, which is responsible for training the journalists of the future.
