In a lecture delivered to the students of the Faculty of Philosophy, Professor Khalid Koser, Executive Director of the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund, emphasized what the purpose of universities is to foster open and honest dialogue on complex issues involving various social groups.

Discussing conflict, peace, and security at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, Professor Koser highlighted his views on how safer societies can be built to counter extremism and combat terrorism.

“These are complex matters,” noted Professor Koser. “No one becomes a terrorist or a criminal simply because they are poor.” He remarked that Kosova serves as an example to other countries for the reintegration of individuals who had participated in foreign wars or been involved with terrorist organizations.

According to Khalid Koser, Kosova managed to emerge successfully in 1999, when almost all refugees were able to return home shortly after the war.

Professor Koser’s lecture was attended by Vice Rector for internationalization and Academic Exchange Rozafa Basha, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Community Development Fund (CDF), and professors from the Faculty of Philosophy.
