In a meeting with the Managing Director of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), Ambassador Friedrich Stift, Rector Arben Hajrullahu expressed gratitude to the Austrian state for its longstanding and continuous support to the University of Prishtina and Kosova.
Ambassador Stift, who is visiting Kosova to mark the 25th anniversary of the Austrian Development Cooperation’s (ADC) presence in the country, emphasized that Austria has treated Kosova as a priority.
Friedrich Stift, Managing Director of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA)—the implementing organization of ADC projects—described Kosova as a success story.
Speaking about Austrian-supported projects benefitting the University of Prishtina, Rector Hajrullahu highlighted that investments in higher education by Austria are meaningful and yield significant results.
Joining Director Stift at the meeting at the University of Prishtina’s Rectorate were Rita Glavitza, Head of the Austrian Development Agency’s Office in Kosova, and Adnan Ahmeti, Education Portfolio Manager at the same office.
Rector Hajrullahu welcomed the guests alongside Avni Hajdari, Vice-Rector for Research, Projects, and Innovation, and Legal Advisor Rina Mehana.
Austria’s assistance to the University of Prishtina and the state of Kosova remains substantial and ongoing. The Austrian Development Agency (ADA) is currently financing the “Enabling Income Generation for the Poor” (EnInGeP) project, which aims to support sustainable private sector development by creating employment opportunities and income generation for the poor and vulnerable in Kosova.
On November 8, the University of Prishtina signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Sustainable Higher Education and Research (ShER) program in Kosova.
The memorandum outlines a framework for cooperation between the University of Prishtina and the ShER program to support the University’s academic, research, and strategic development goals. This partnership focuses on joint activities, expert support, and capacity-building initiatives.
A week after signing the memorandum with the ShER program, Rector Arben Hajrullahu met with Austria’s Ambassador to Kosova, Georg Schnetzer.
In November, Rector Hajrullahu also participated in the Vienna Economic Forum, where discussions included support for universities in member countries, including Kosova.
