In a meeting between Rector Arben Hajrullahu and Germany’s Ambassador to Kosova, Jörn Rohde, discussions focused on the support and collaboration between German universities and the University of Prishtina.

Rector Hajrullahu shared with the ambassador that his first day as head of the University of Prishtina began in Berlin. He was invited by the Berlin Process’ Pillar for Science, Education, Research, and Innovation and had the honor of addressing members of the German Bundestag's Committee on Education, Scientific Research, and Technology.

The conversation then centered on the University of Prishtina's collaborations with numerous German higher education institutions, a list of which Rector Hajrullahu presented during the meeting.

On November 5, the University of Prishtina signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Germany's Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, drawing inspiration from innovations introduced by the automotive giant, Mercedes-Benz.

Ambassador Rohde emphasized that Kosova should leverage the presence of international organizations such as KFOR, OSCE, and UNMIK within its territory, positioning itself as an attractive destination for international researchers.

To illustrate this, he highlighted the Prishtina International Summer University, noting the growing interest among international participants. The next edition will mark its 25th anniversary.

The ambassador also mentioned that the German Embassy collaborates on projects in Kosova with organizations and the governments of Switzerland and Austria, further enhancing their impact.

On November 4, Rector Hajrullahu participated in the Vienna Economic Summit, where representatives from the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development discussed potential support for universities in member countries.

Additionally, during a conference organized by the Ministry of Trade and Industry with support from Austria’s "Enabling Income Generation for the Poor" (EnInGeP) project, Rector Hajrullahu emphasized the importance of connecting university education with the labor market and the private sector economy.
