During a preliminary meeting, the management team of the University of Prishtina met with representatives from USAID and the University of Iowa to discuss ways to strengthen higher education in Kosova.

The University of Iowa is currently implementing USAID’s five-year initiative, "Private Sector Partnerships to Strengthen Higher Education," aimed at helping universities offer educational opportunities more aligned with economic needs.

Eric Guetschoff, a private sector officer, and Merita Teliqi-Devaja, a project management specialist from USAID's office in Kosova, visited the Rectorate to discuss this project and explore ways in which education at the University of Prishtina can better align with labor market demands. The meeting was also attended by members of the University of Iowa team leading the “Private Sector Partnerships to Strengthen Higher Education” initiative, including Project Director Cassie Barnhardt and Activity Manager Elmaze Gashi.

The guests were welcomed by Rector Arben Hajrullahu, Vice-Rector Avni Hajdari, and the Rector's legal advisor, Rina Mehana.

The United States and American educational institutions have consistently supported the University of Prishtina.

The university has a cooperation memorandum with the Millennium Challenge Corporation, a U.S. federal agency, from which Kosova has benefited over 200 million dollars through the "Compact" program.

Additionally, on October 3rd, the Anthropology Institute at the Faculty of Philosophy was inaugurated with a financial grant of 16,000 euros provided through the "University Support Grant." On that day, Rector Arben Hajrullahu honored the U.S. Ambassador to Kosova, Jeffrey M. Hovenier, with the "Ulpiana Fest" award.
