A cooperation memorandum has been signed between the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Prishtina and the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany, drawing inspiration from the innovations brought to the world by the automotive giant “Mercedes-Benz.”

The memorandum was signed by Sven Tode, President of the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, and Arben Hajrullahu, Rector of the University of Prishtina.

This memorandum will facilitate and enhance academic cooperation in training, research, curriculum development, postgraduate education, quality assurance, and the exchange of students, academic staff, and administrative personnel.

Before the signing of the memorandum, President Sven Tode delivered a lecture titled “How Mercedes-Benz Shaped the Automotive Industry.”

During the lecture, Professor Tode explained the most effective ways to implement innovative projects in both developed and developing countries.

An innovative project proposal for the automotive industry was also presented, as a result, the collaboration between the University of Prishtina and the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences.

The event, held at the Conference Room of the Innovation Center at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, was opened with a speech by the faculty’s dean, Mirlind Bruqi.

Other speakers included Rector Arben Hajrullahu, Naim Jerliu, Vice-Rector of UP for teaching, academic staff issues, and publications, Jorgaç Kaçani, Rector of the German College of Technology in Tirana, Getoar Mjeku, Deputy Minister of Economy, and Christian Boetcher, representative of the German Embassy in Kosova.

For the University of Prishtina, the connection between private enterprise, the job market, and the education and employment of students is of great importance.

In line with this objective, Rector Arben Hajrullahu participated in the Vienna Economic Forum on November 4, 2024, where discussions included interest in supporting universities from the member countries of the forum, of which Kosova is also a part.

At the end of October, during a conference organized by the Ministry of Trade and Industry with the support of the Austrian project “Enabling Income Generation for the Poor” (EnInGeP), Rector Hajrullahu emphasized the necessity of introducing student energy and creativity into the labor market.
