The Japanese Ambassador to Kosovo, Keisuke Yamanaka, along with the representative of the “Tokyo Foundation Policy Research," Riaki Tanaka, met with Rector Arben Hajrullahu to extend their congratulations on his achievments and explore further opportunities to strengthen the relationship betweenJapan and Kosovo
Rector Hajrullahu expressed his gratitude to his guests forJapan’s ongoing support to the University of Prishtina and Kosovo, particularly highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts that yield mutual benefits.
Vice Rector Rozafa Basha and Professor Avni Hajdari discussedthe potential for collaboration with professors in Japanese insitutions within the framework of the International Summer University of Prishtina, as well as other joint projects.
The „Read Japan Project,” led by the Tokyo Foundation, selected the Central University Library of Prishtina as the recipient of a donation of 200 english books. This selection was recommended by the Embassy of Japan in Kosovo, with the goal of bringing greater awareness of Japan to the people of Kosovo.
During his first visit to Kosovo, Mr. Tanaka shared that various institutions could apply to receive 200 books on a regular basis, reflecting Japan’s commitment to ongoing collaboration. As a gesture of appreciation, Mr Tanaka gifted Rector Hajrullahu with two books.
The books from Japan are expected to arrive in Kosovo between January and February of 2025, with plans to establish a dedicated section for Japanese literature within the Central University Library.
