The 88th World Library and Information Congress, organized by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), the world's leading institution in the field of librarianship, took place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The University of Pristina participated in this congress, represented by Ms. Jehona Shala, a specialist in librarianship at the Central University Library of UP (BQU).

Shala presented a paper in the Bibliography session titled "Political Implications in the Development of the First National Bibliography of Kosovo," in which she argued the need for such a bibliography and analysed the challenges of implementing this project in a country with historical and political characteristics, such as Kosovo. On this occasion, she advocated for the necessity of integrating our country into standardized global library practices, emphasizing the need to provide Kosovo with the tools that facilitate the development of the national bibliography, such as the specific code for Kosovo in the Universal Decimal Classification Code Table, the International Standard Music Number (ISMN), the International Standard Audiovisual Number (ISAN), and others.

The presentation was well-received and sparked interest for discussion among the attendees. Shala, who is also a doctoral candidate in Albanian Literature at UP, has focused her research on issues related to bibliographic classification of Albanian literature, addressing the panelists' interest in her work and the overall development of librarianship in Kosovo.

Furthermore, Ms. Jehona Shala's paper was read, discussed, and approved for publication in the pre-conference meetings held in Brussels under the theme: "Universal Bibliographic Control at a Crossroads: Challenges for the Unification of IFLA Bibliographic Standards," organized by the Bibliography Session, Cataloging Session, and the Material Analysis and Quality Session of IFLA (link: https://repository.ifla.org/handle/123456789/2765).

The participation of the University of Pristina in this congress demonstrates its commitment to raising the professional performance of its staff to international levels.
