Rector of the University of Prishtina, Dr. Qerim Qerimi, accompanied by the Vice-Dean for Clinical Teaching and Labor Market Issues at the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Muhamet Vokrri, hosted in a meeting the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the UNMIK in Kosovo, Ms. Caroline Ziadeh.

Youth, women and human rights in general were discussed throughout the discussion in a productive way, as well as the possibility of mutual collaboration. This meeting was given priority by the rector Qerimi to cooperate with UNMIK in numerous projects, such as training initiatives, internships and program development.

Rector Qerimi emphasized in the meeting the ongoing reform of the curriculum, which included the first formation of the Master's in Human Rights and Transitional Justice as well as the initiative for the exploration of studies in the master's degree in gender studies.

Paid internship programs at the university, scholarships for Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate study levels, as well as scholarships for STEM students offered by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, were just some of the student-focused initiatives mentioned by the rector Qerimi. In the context of this conversation, Rector Qerimi pointed out the fact that a significant part of students - especially girls and women - study in the field of engineering and computer science and that ICT in general should be promoted from the perspective of Kosovo as a useful development.

While Ms. Ziadeh emphasized the mission's focus on education, finding channels of support, especially for young people, and spreading the idea that any legislative system should be based on human rights. Because many of them study ICT in Kosovo, the Head of UNMIK, Ms. Ziadeh felt it was essential to develop ways to make it easier for women and girls to enter the labor market.

During the discussion that followed, the rector referred to the research recently conducted by the Center for Career Development, a unit of the Office for Academic Development in UP, which showed that 75% of graduates had secured employment within six months after graduation. Conversely, job placement was faster for students who worked an internship while studying.

In their closing speech, the rector Qerimi and Mrs. Ziadeh, expressed their intention to cooperate together in some good elements.
