The Rector of the University of Pristina (UP), Prof. Dr. Qerim Qerimi, the acting General Secretary, Mr. Besfort Krasniqi and the Director for of the Department for Budget and Finance, Mr. Ilir Hajdari, participated in a hearing session on the budget allocations of the UP within the Budget of the Republic of Kosovo for year 2023. The meeting was convened by the Commission for Education, Science, Technology, Innovation, Culture, Youth, and Sports of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. This is the first time that the UP is invited to a public hearing on its budget.

Rector Qerimi emphasized the need to increase the budget, especially to enable the recruitment of new academic staff, as well as to enable the realization of research objectives, the advancement of teaching quality, and the internationalization of the UP.

The parliamentary committee noted the special importance of these objectives and follow-up activities, as well as acknowledged the need for support in these important segments for a vital institution such as the UP. After a detailed proposal, accompanied by detailed explanations and justifications, the demands of the UP will be examined in the next phase of the process of finalizing the Draft Law on Budget allocations for the year 2023.
