A short documentary about the history and future of the University of Prishtina was screened during the ceremony celebrating its 55th anniversary.
In the documentary, discussing the hopes and dreams of the Albanian population of Kosovo for a university in the Albanian language, Rector Arben Hajrullahu said that 57 years ago, this university was just one of the demands of the 1968 demonstrations.
The University of Prishtina began operations two years after these demonstrations, aiming to advance Kosovar society through education and knowledge acquisition.
The documentary also presented the 1997 student protest for the return to school facilities after being forcibly removed by Slobodan Milosevic's regime. This protest preceded the liberation war that culminated in Kosovo's freedom.
The documentary then focused on the present and future, highlighting the University of Prishtina's preparations for the era of artificial intelligence and the rapid, unstoppable technological development, as well as the successful modern projects of UP students and professors.
"Long live the University of Prishtina," said Rector Hajrullahu at the end.
