In the Senate Hall at the Rectorate, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the University of Prishtina and the ShER Program, Higher Education and Sustainable Research in Kosova, highlighting the long-standing relationship between Austria and Kosova.
The memorandum with the Austrian program was signed by Rector Arben Hajrullahu and Aqim Emurli, the leader of the ShER Program.
Rector Hajrullahu, who has completed most of his academic advancement in Austrian institutions, recalled the assistance that Austria has provided to Kosova and its higher education during both difficult and prosperous times.
While mentioning joint projects, Rector Hajrullahu stated that the connection between Austrian universities and the University of Prishtina is so strong that they can be considered as two inseparable bodies.
Adnan Ahmeti, the education manager at the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), also spoke, stating that Austria is the only European Union country closely linked to higher education in Kosova. He described this as both a privilege and a responsibility.
Aqim Emurli, leader of the ShER Program, discussed what this program offers, declaring that those involved do not merely engage in activities for the sake of it but are actively involved and seek results. He considers the University of Prishtina a leading force among universities in Kosova.
The memorandum aims to create a framework for cooperation between the University of Prishtina and the ShER program to support academic, research, and strategic development goals through joint activities, expert support, and capacity-building initiatives.
The ShER program is funded by the Austrian Development Agency, Austrian Development Cooperation, and the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, while being implemented by the World University Service of Austria (WUS Austria), Center for Social Innovation (ZSI), and Austrian Agency for Education and Internationalization (OeAD). This event was also reported on Kosova's public television, RTK.
Additionally, recently, the University of Prishtina signed a cooperation memorandum for the first time in its history since its establishment with a university in Canada.
