Majlinda Zhitija-Gjelaj completed her studies at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Pristina, where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in the Department of Pedagogy. In 2014, she obtained her doctoral degree in Pedagogy from the University of Tirana.
Since 2007, she has been a member of the academic staff at the University of Prishtina, initially joining as an assistant after being recognized as an outstanding student by the university. She currently serves as an Associate Professor, specializing in pedagogical subjects, with a primary focus on assessment in education.
Beyond her teaching responsibilities, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Gjelaj has held various leadership roles at the Faculty of Education, University of Prishtina. Since 2013, she has served as an academic development officer and subsequently as Vice-Dean for Teaching and Students Affairs (2016-2020), and Vice-Dean for Development and Quality Assurance (2020-2024). Additionally, she has been actively engaged in shaping education policies at the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MASHTI) and has contributed as an expert to multiple national and international organizations in the field of education.
Prof. Assoc. Dr. Gjelaj’s scholarly contributions include numerous publications in international journals, as well as chapters in both national and international monographs. She has presented her research at prestigious educational conferences across Europe. Furthermore, she is a certified trainer on various pedagogical topics related to contemporary teaching and assessment, having conducted extensive training sessions for teachers at all levels.
At the Faculty of Education, she has played a pivotal role in developing internal quality assurance mechanisms, including the policy for quality assurance and the advancement of pre-service teacher education. She has also contributed to the enhancement of quality assurance tools within the faculties of education across the Republic of Kosova. Moreover, she has also led several international projects at the faculty and currently serves as the coordinator of the BEWBU Erasmus + project.
