Avni Hajdari, completed his studies in Biology (2001 to 2004) and Ecology and Environmental Protection (2005 to 2007) at the University of Prishtina. In 2011, he earned the title of Doctor of Natural Sciences (Biology) from the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, specifically from the Institute of Applied Botany and Pharmacognosy.
Since 2004, he has served as a teaching assistant at the Univesity of Prishtina, and in 2013 he was appointed as a professor at the Department of Biology. In addition to his teaching commitments, he has contributed to strengthening the research capabilities at the University of Prishtina, with a particular focus on the fields of nature conservation, ethnobiology (documentation of traditional ecological knowledge), andmolecular taxonomy and ecology (evaluating the chemical and genetic diversity of plants).
In cooperation with national and international colleagues, he has successfully carried outnumerous research projects, bringing advanced research methods to the University of Prishtina in the aforementioned fields. He has also published research articles and represented the university at national and international conferences. urthermore, he has held several leadership positions at university, including Head of the Institute for Biological and Environmental Research, Head of the Department of Biology, and Director of the Office for Research and Sponsored Projects.
He has also contributed to various professional organizations both in Kosovo and abroad, including serving as a board member of the European Section of the Society for Conservation Biology. In 2014, he was honored with the "Scientist of the Year" award by MESTI.
Since October 1, 2024, he has been serving as the Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, Projects, and Innovation at the University of Prishtina.
