The "Days of History" were officially inaugurated at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Prishtina, during which activities primarily related to Kosovo’s painful and glorious past will take place.

At the event organized by the Department of History, Rector Arben Hajrullahu stated that if we do not know our history, we cannot understand the present and will struggle to navigate the future. "History helps us understand ourselves. Without self-awareness, we will face significant challenges in understanding others," Hajrullahu declared.

The Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Bekim Baliqi, emphasized that history teaches us to reflect on the past to avoid repeating mistakes. "History is a guide, a compass for a state and society," Baliqi explained.

Mentor Hasani, Head of the Department of History, described history in his speech as both knowledge and responsibility. He noted that this academic discipline in Kosovo is intertwined with justice and freedom.

For the first time this year, the "Rrustem Hyseni — The Historian" Award was presented to scholarship recipients of the Department of History to honor the department’s alumnus, a Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) soldier and Hero of Kosovo.

During the "Days of History" (June 2–5, 2025), a documentary titled The Valley about Kosovo’s war will be screened. Visits to sites of civilian massacres from 1998–1999 will be conducted, and a panel discussion with students will mark the 26th anniversary of Kosovo’s liberation.

Additionally, a graduation ceremony for the Faculty of Philosophy’s graduates will be held, alongside meetings with distinguished alumni of the Department of History.
