At the "Digital Skills Festival" held in the Innovation and Training Park in Prizren, discussions focused on pathways and opportunities for integrating technology into new businesses and aligning academic studies with labor market demands.
The festival, organized by the Innovation Park with funding from the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) under a project implemented by GIZ, was joined this year by the "Digital Camp" initiative, organized by the Office of the Prime Minister.
This pivotal event for future technology featured participation from Majlinda Gjelaj, Prorector for Institutional Development, Quality Assurance, and Student Affairs, alongside engineering students from the University of Prishtina (UP) and their peers from other domestic universities.
Addressing the students directly, David Oberhuber, GIZ Director for Kosovo and North Macedonia, emphasized the expectation for young students to contribute fresh ideas. Vedat Sogojeva, Director of Strategic Planning at the Office of the Prime Minister, and Muhamed Rexhepi, Executive Director of the Innovation and Training Park, also spoke at the event.
The festival included two panel discussions on technological parks as catalysts for new business development and the impact of European digital innovation centers in the Western Balkans. Additionally, success stories of emerging enterprises were shared for inspiration.
During the day, the winning team of the student competition "Junction X ITP Prizren" was announced. Participants used artificial intelligence and cybersecurity tools to solve challenges in the industrial and public sectors. The winning group will have the opportunity to participate in a similar competition in Helsinki, Finland.
