The University of Prishtina has taken another significant step toward internationalization and strengthening its scientific credibility. 

The Herbarium of the Faculty of Mathematical and Natural Sciences at the University of Prishtina has been included in the International Herbarium Index (Index Herbariorum) in New York, USA. 

With this international indexing, the University of Prishtina’s Herbarium will now be recognized as equivalent to renowned scientific herbaria worldwide and will henceforth be identified by the acronym “UPH” (University of Prishtina Herbarium). 

To achieve this milestone, the Head of the Herbarium, Prof. Dr. Elez Krasniqi, and Assistant Professor Dr. Naim Berisha from the Department of Biology (Faculty of Mathematical and Natural Sciences) carried out extensive and intensive work to prepare, systematize, and document botanical materials, fulfilling all required international criteria and standards. 

This success represents a major contribution to Kosovo’s scientific community, paving the way for cooperations and broader international recognition of botanical research conducted in our country. 

The University of Prishtina’s Herbarium is expected to relocate this year to the new premises of the Faculty of Mathematical and Natural Sciences.
