The newly formed Governing Council of the Central University Library held its first meeting and elected Professor Arlinda Bytyqi-Damoni as its chairperson.
Present at the start of the Council’s meeting, along with Vice-Rectors Majlinda Gjelaj, Rozafa Basha, and Naim Jerliu, was the Rector of the University of Prishtina, Arben Hajrullahu, who wished the important team success and productive work. “I know you want and are capable of doing great work to advance the University Library,” Rector Hajrullahu stated.
He emphasized the need to reactivate the University of Prishtina’s Publishing House so that the university’s researchers can publish their works and books under its official imprint. Discussions also addressed the library’s digitization and publication strategy.
During the meeting, it was stressed that the first step is to assess the current state of all units within the Central University Library to develop plans for moving forward.
The Governing Council of the Central University Library consists of UP professors Arlinda Bytyqi-Damoni, Arben Hajdari, and Blerim Rexha; academic affairs official Sinavere Ukshini; and civil society representative Agon Ahmeti.
The Governing Council’s term lasts four years, with the possibility of re-election for a second term. Its most important task is to approve the library’s development strategies and policies.
