During a visit by Rector Arben Hajrullahu and Vice-Rectors Rozafa Basha and Avni Hajdari to the Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the head of the department, Sevdije Govori, proposed open days for high school graduates. This initiative aims to familiarize them with the study opportunities at this department and the University of Pristina.
In the meeting, Rector Hajrullahu and the vice-rectors received information from their host about the challenges, issues, and achievements of the Chemistry Department. Professor Govori stated that there are now more laboratory facilities than before, but emphasized the need for continuous hard work.
Rector Hajrullahu, speaking in one of the Chemistry Department's lecture halls, told the students they are fortunate to receive knowledge from many professors who have internationally recognized expertise in their subjects.
Various laboratories were then visited, where expert professors and students conduct research and analyses that also serve the country, such as identifying environmental pollutants. In one of these labs, Professor Avni Berisha was carrying out his daily work; he is among the top 2% of the most cited scientists in the world for 2024.
The academic and administrative staff and students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences are expected to move into a new building, which is nearing completion.
