The University of Prishtina is part of the Future Leaders Mentorship Program, an initiative supported by UNMIK, developed by UN Women Kosovo, and implemented in cooperation with the university. This program is a significant step toward strengthening women's leadership in Kosovo by building bridges between emerging leaders and successful professionals in various fields.
The opening event brought together a distinguished audience of academics, diplomats, representatives of national and international institutions, mentors, and students, all committed to empowering women and promoting equal leadership. Two vice-rectors and professors from the University of Prishtina, Majlinda Gjelaj and Albana Berisha-Qehaja, offered their full support for the initiative, demonstrating the university's commitment to advancing women in leadership positions. The program within UP was coordinated by Professor Arta Basha-Jakupi, a strong advocate for mentoring and the development of women's leadership.
The UN Women Kosovo team, led by Vlora Tuzi-Nushi, along with key institutional partners, worked diligently to bring this initiative to life, creating a program aimed at mentoring, empowering, and professionally developing young women in Kosovo.
The Future Leaders Mentorship Program is designed to provide support, guidance, and inspiration to young female students from the University of Prishtina, connecting them with distinguished mentors—women who have achieved success in law, diplomacy, business, technology, academia, and other key fields. The program aims for 25 accomplished mentors to guide and assist 25 students from the University of Prishtina in developing successful and high-achieving careers. Mentors are expected to share their knowledge and provide new insights, enabling students to confidently start their journeys as future leaders.
Additionally, the program seeks to foster a mentoring culture where professional women invest in the next generation to create a sustainable transformation in women's representation in leadership. The University of Prishtina remains committed to promoting mentoring, empowerment, and leadership—not only within this initiative but as an ongoing mission to create a more inclusive and diverse leadership landscape.
