The Steering Board of the University of Pristina, at its meeting held on 21 November 2022, voted for electing Prof. Dr. Qerim Qerimi, as the Rector of the University of Pristina. Professor Qerimi is a Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Prishtina (UP).

Professor Qerimi joined the Faculty of Law, first, as a teaching assistant in 2006, and is currently a full professor at the UP. During his career, in addition to teaching, he has also served in different leadership functions within the University, as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Law and acting Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs of the University of Pristina. He is a current member of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe (European Commission for Democracy through Law).
 

In his plan for UP, Professor Qerimi has proposed ten areas of primary focus, beginning with the amendment of the Statute of the University and other implementing acts, in order to overcome the various challenges facing the UP during the changing times. Also, in his plan are the expansion and strengthening of the capacities of the academic and administrative staff, the expansion of scientific efforts and investments, the expansion of the international role of the UP, the consolidation and strengthening of rules and mechanisms related to academic integrity, personal and professional conduct, discrimination and harassment, as well as providing experience and other facilities for students, supporting scientific capacities, and other areas of action.

Professor Qerimi will be in charge of leading the UP until 30 September 30, 2024.
