Funding Opportunities
The STARS grants provide support for research projects lasting 30 months, developed in one of the University of Padua’s 32 Departments. The programme includes the following categories:
- STARS Starting Grants (StG): Targeting Principal Investigators (PIs) of any age and nationality who aim to establish their own research teams and launch independent activities. Applicants must have defended their first doctoral degree between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2024.
- STARS Consolidator Grants (CoG) and Wild Card Grants (WiC): Aimed at PIs who have already established research activities and seek to further consolidate their teams. Applicants for CoG must have defended their first doctoral degree between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2019.
What is Offered
- Research Budget:
- Up to €100,000 for Social Sciences and Humanities.
- Up to €175,000 for Physical Sciences, Engineering, and Life Sciences.
- Fellowship:
- Up to €105,000 gross for a 30-month duration (equivalent to approximately €30,000-42,000 per year).
- Additional Mobility Allowance of €15,000 gross for researchers relocating from abroad.
Successful candidates will be fully supported in submitting an ERC application during or immediately after their STARS project, with the University of Padua as the host institution.
