The tenth day of the Prishtina International Summer University (PISU) continued with regular lectures and a workshop on artificial intelligence, as well as a public discussion on the role of young people in the European integration process.

At the Faculty of Philosophy, the course “Chronobiology and Sleep Medicine” continued under the guidance of Prof. Alain Riveros-Rivera from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia and Dr. Besim Morina from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Prishtina.

Guest lecturer Dr. Blerina Dervisholli, a pulmonology specialist at the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo, addressed the diagnosis, risk factors, complications and treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea. The course highlighted the importance of sleep and biological rhythms for health and the functioning of the human body. Amina Kaja, a student of the Faculty of Medicine, said that the course had helped her better understand the importance of sleep and the cyclical nature of biological processes in the body.

At the Modelarium of the Faculty of Architecture, the workshop “From Algorithms to Action: Understanding Artificial Intelligence in the Real World” was led by Sergei Oudman, lecturer and researcher at Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, the Netherlands.

Oudman emphasised that artificial intelligence should be used as a tool to support and improve work, rather than replace knowledge and critical thinking. During the practical session, participants tested AI tools to create simple applications and explored how the formulation of prompts influences the quality of the results.

Students Aleyna Öztürk and Elisa Rama valued the workshop for its practical and interactive approach, as well as for the opportunity to better understand how artificial intelligence can be applied across different fields of study and in their future careers.

The day’s programme continued at Europe House Prishtina with the public discussion “Regional Perspectives of EU Integration: What Is the Role of Youth?”, organised by Europe House Kosovo with the support of the European Union Office in Kosovo, as part of its support for this year’s PISU.

The panel brought together representatives of institutions and academia, as well as students from Kosovo, Albania and Bulgaria. The discussion focused on the role of young people in the European integration process, the opportunities provided by mobility and exchange programmes, including Erasmus+, and the importance of active youth participation in democratic life and regional cooperation.

The discussion underscored that investment in education, skills development, regional networking and youth empowerment is essential for advancing European integration and creating new opportunities for future generations.
