During the meeting of the University of Prishtina’s Publishing Council, the logo for UP’s publications was approved. The logo was designed by Professor Zeni Ballazhi. It was also announced that the Steering Council has allocated €100,000 specifically for publishing activities, based on the needs of the university’s academic units.
In addition, it was reported that on June 4, 2026, a decision was made to establish the University of Prishtina’s Publishing Office. The publications produced by this office will be organized, stored, and published on an open-access digital platform, which was set up and configured by Mr. Hajrullah Hajrullahu, the Director of the Department of Information Technology. Today, the initial version of this platform was presented to the members of the Publishing Council.
The Chair of the Council, Prorector for Teaching, Academic Staff, and Publications, Professor Adem Beha, emphasized that the university’s publishing platform and its publications will have their own development path and are expected to grow rapidly.
Following this, the council members discussed the UP Publishing Strategy 2026–2030, which outlines the university’s publishing plans for the next four years. It was proposed that the initial focus should be on textbooks, monographs, and manuals for students, with plans to expand later to other types of academic publications.
This strategy was based on research conducted by Professor Canolli, a member of the Publishing Council, with the permission of the Council and aimed at identifying needs. The research included feedback from 133 professors and 366 students regarding the types and formats of publications required by the university. The main finding was a strong demand for a digital university library with open access.
A call for publications from UP staff will be announced soon.
Finally, the council members agreed to discuss, at the next meeting, among other topics, the standardization of the application process for academic staff to publish their work.
