The closing ceremony of the 26th Prishtina International Summer University (PISU) took place in the courtyard of the University of Prishtina Rectorate.

The ceremony began with a welcoming speech by the Rector of the University of Prishtina, Professor Arben Hajrullahu. Rector Hajrullahu thanked the international and local professors and students whose work, dedication, and energy make the yearly organization of the Prishtina International Summer University possible. He shared that, during his more than 20-year career as a professor, he had the pleasure of co-teaching with international professors on three occasions, and that each time was better than the last.

Speaking on behalf of the professors who came from various countries around the world, Professor Alain Riveros-Rivera from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia addressed the attendees. Referring to his field of expertise and the course on chronobiology and sleep medicine that he taught at the Summer University, he described the University of Prishtina not simply as a place where information is passed from professor to student, but as a living body built on curiosity, dialogue, and cooperation.

Professor Mjellma Carabregu-Vokshi of the Faculty of Economics spoke on behalf of the University of Prishtina's professors. She described the Summer University as much more than a university program and the students who take part as the main reason it exists.

During the closing ceremony, diaspora student Arsim Krasniqi, University of Kansas student Solomon Keim, and University of Prishtina student Rela Çelaj also spoke, sharing their experiences and impressions of this edition.

At the end of the ceremony, UP Rector Professor Arben Hajrullahu presented certificates of participation in PISU to the international and UP professors.

Around 350 local and international students took part in this year’s edition of the Prishtina International Summer University. A total of 19 courses, co-taught by international and UP professors, were held, along with 12 workshops. These covered topics ranging from artificial intelligence, financial technology, and anthropology to sleep medicine, forensic sciences, and other fields.

The Summer University also marked the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, featured discussions on democracy and women's rights, and continued the tradition of the UPWard short film festival, where students from the Faculty of Arts and international students screened their films. Students in this edition also had the chance to show their athletic skills, visit historical sites, explore cultural heritage, and enjoy the natural beauty of Kosovo.

The Prishtina International Summer University is one of the most important platforms and events for the internationalization, networking, and global outreach of the University of Prishtina. Through it, one of the University’s main goals is strengthened and brought to life: bringing as many international students and professors as possible to Prishtina. The Prishtina International Summer University remains one of the finest academic postcards that Kosovo sends to the world.
