Starting from the 2026/27 academic year, the University of Prishtina will reserve study places for young people from the Arbëreshë community in Italy, the Arbanasi community in Zadar, Albanians in the Republic of Türkiye, and members of the Kosovar diaspora. These reserved places will give them the opportunity to study at the University of Prishtina.

The decision was approved by the University Senate at its meeting held on 20 February 2026. Under this decision, the University will reserve 1 per cent of study places each year for candidates from the Arbëreshë community in Italy, 1 per cent for candidates from the Arbanasi community in Zadar, and 1 per cent for candidates from the Albanian community in the Republic of Türkiye. An additional 2 per cent of study places will be reserved for students from the Kosovar diaspora.

Candidates applying for these reserved places will follow the University’s regular admission procedures, which are carried out in a fair and transparent manner. The most qualified applicants will be selected.

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kosovo has also approved these reserved places. The University of Prishtina already reserves study places for students from non-majority communities in Kosovo, as well as for students from neighbouring countries.

The University of Prishtina is the largest, oldest, and most important higher education institution in Kosovo. It is also the highest-ranked Albanian-language university in the Western Balkans and worldwide on major international ranking platforms.
