During his visit to the University of Prishtina, His Excellency Hristo Kraevski, the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Kosovo, discussed opportunities for cooperation between UP and Bulgarian universities.
Ambassador Kraevski received detailed information about the university’s history, current achievements, and future plans. UP is Kosovo’s largest, oldest, and most successful university, and it ranks highest among Albanian-language universities on prominent international platforms, both in the Western Balkans and globally.
The meeting explored potential areas of cooperation between the academic and intellectual communities of both countries. The Bulgarian ambassador announced that the renowned Bulgarian scholar Christo Pimpirev will give a lecture at the University of Prishtina in September. He expressed confidence that future initiatives will strengthen ties between young scientists and universities in both nations.
Ambassador Kraevski was welcomed by Rector Arben Hajrullahu, Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Academic Exchanges Prof. Rozafa Basha, and Vice-Rector for Teaching, Academic Staff, and Publications Prof. Adem Beha. He was also accompanied by Minister Plenipotentiary Dimitar Manchev, Counsellor Blagoy Petrov, from the Bulgarian Embassy, and Professor Raqi Bello, Bulgarian Language instructor engaged at the University of Prishtina.
The ambassador presented Rector Hajrullahu with a certificate of appreciation from the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science for his personal efforts in incorporating the Bulgarian language into the Language Center and Balkanistics Study Program of the Faculty of Philology at UP. To support this initiative, the Bulgarian Embassy in Kosovo engaged a Bulgarian language instructor teaching at the Faculty of Philology at UP.
Rector Hajrullahu emphasized that languages and universities play a crucial role in fostering mutual understanding and bringing people closer together. The University of Prishtina cooperates with Bulgarian universities through European programs such as Erasmus+ and Horizon.
