As part of its efforts to expand international cooperation, the University of Prishtina has signed two Memoranda of Understanding with CIHEAM Montpellier and CIHEAM Zaragoza, institutes of the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM).
These agreements aim to strengthen cooperation in areas such as training, scientific research, joint international activities, and the development of projects of common interest.
Through this partnership with CIHEAM Zaragoza and CIHEAM Montpellier, the University of Prishtina will work on finding programs and funding opportunities for research projects within European cooperation frameworks. The two sides will also cooperate to improve skills in agriculture, food security, rural development, and climate change adaptation.
The memoranda were signed by the Rector of the University of Prishtina, Prof. Arben Hajrullahu, the Director of CIHEAM Zaragoza, Mr. Raúl Compés López, and the Director of CIHEAM Montpellier, Mr. Thierry Dupeuble.
During the meeting, Rector Hajrullahu introduced the guests to the university’s history, organizational structure, and recent developments. Meanwhile, Directors López and Dupeuble shared information about the activities and priorities of CIHEAM Zaragoza and CIHEAM Montpellier. Rector Hajrullahu emphasized that the goal of these agreements is to connect people and institutions with shared academic and research interests.
The ceremony was also attended by Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Academic Exchanges, Prof. Rozafa Basha, Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine; Prof. Blerta Mehmedi-Kastrati; and Prof. Përparim Ameti from the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
CIHEAM is an intergovernmental organization in the Mediterranean region, made up of 13 member countries. The organization works through four institutes located in Italy, Greece, France, and Spain, with its headquarters in Paris.
Expanding the university’s international presence and cooperation remains one of the main priorities for the University of Prishtina, alongside its ongoing commitment to serving the public good.
