The University of Prishtina and the company Cacttus signed a memorandum of understanding today, establishing a strategic partnership aimed at academic development, digital transformation, and innovation.

The agreement outlines mutual cooperation in areas such as digitalization, digital sustainability, emerging intelligent and advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, data-based systems, cybersecurity, innovation, scientific research, and entrepreneurship.

This cooperation will involve multiple academic units from the University of Prishtina. Its main goal is to strengthen digital skills and innovative abilities in teaching and research. The memorandum was signed by the Rector of the University of Prishtina, Prof. Arben Hajrullahu, and the Chairman of Cacttus’s Board, Mr. Armend Malazogu.

Rector Hajrullahu expressed his hope that this partnership will grow stronger, bringing efforts together to provide services to local and central institutions, and to seek funding for projects, including from the European Union development funds. Mr. Malazogu emphasized that the cooperation will be intense, productive, and relevant to the current times we live in.

The possibility of cooperation between Cacttus and the Center for Artificial Intelligence at the University of Prishtina (AIUP), established in March 2025, was also mentioned. This includes using smart technologies in cooperation with experts from the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine to identify pests and diseases that harm crops in Kosovo.

Professors and specialists from this faculty are also involved in a project with the American KFOR to identify dangerous pests and parasites in the “Bondsteel” military base area. Today, the University of Prishtina also signed cooperation agreements with CIHEAM Zaragoza and CIHEAM Montpellier to strengthen skills in agriculture, food security, rural development, and climate change adaptation.
