Donald E. Letendre, a professor and former dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Iowa, stated during a meeting with Arben Hajrullahu, the rector of the University of Prishtina, that we can succeed if we work together and help each other.

With his extensive experience in the field of pharmaceuticals and their regulation, Professor Letendre said that everyone involved in healthcare in Kosovo should prioritize the improvement of the health and well-being of the citizens of this country.

Rector Arben Hajrullahu, while thanking the American professor for his willingness and desire to share his knowledge and assistance with colleagues from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Prishtina, stated that throughout his term, he will work to create a system based on meritocracy, transparency, accountability, and the employment of the best.

The rector also mentioned the educated members of the Kosovar diaspora in various countries around the world as a great potential in the ongoing efforts for brain gain.

The meeting between Professor Letendre and Rector Hajrullahu was also attended by Pranvera Breznica-Selmani, a professor from the Faculty of Medicine — Department of Pharmacy, and Fitim Seferi, the Director of the Office for Sponsored Research and Projects.

The University of Prishtina develops a strong partnership with the University of Iowa, and last year, with the help of Professor Donald E. Letendre, the Institute of Pharmacy was established, with the aim of further increasing the research and professional capacity of UP and developing the pharmaceutical sector in Kosovo.
