At the central ceremony celebrating the 55th anniversary of the University of Prishtina, it was stated that this institution has kept the dream of freedom alive and has survived as a place of knowledge.

The 55th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Prishtina brought together people from the academic and scientific world, government officials, diplomats, and politicians.

In his speech to those present, Rector Arben Hajrullahu explained why the University of Prishtina is a major institution of higher education in Kosovo and beyond. He noted that a crucial link in its success is the students and alumni, professors and former professors, along with partners.

With vision and dedication, he emphasized that together we can strengthen the University of Prishtina to be a driving force for development.

Tonin Gjuraj, Vice President of the Conference of Rectors of Albania and Rector of the University of Shkodra "Luigj Gurakuqi," began by reflecting on history, stating that Kosovo has long been a source of pain and concern for our nation.

He then called for both universities, those of Shkodra and Prishtina, to be strong promoters against barriers between Kosovo and Albania, aiming to create a common education market.

The Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, Arbërie Nagavci, stated that the University of Prishtina has faced challenges, battles, results, and victories over its 50-plus years, while the Chairman of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo, Mehmet Kraja, remarked that the university helped Kosovo when it needed confidence in its potential for enlightenment and citizenship.

According to Kraja, the University of Prishtina is still needed for a Kosovo of ideals and dreams, and it should return to critical thinking.

On the occasion of its 55th anniversary, video messages from the University of Prishtina's two partner universities from Luxembourg and Israel were shared, while the artistic program was enriched by the Choir of the Faculty of Arts.
