During his visit to the Rectorate of the University of Prishtina and the meeting with Rector Arben Hajrullahu, the Ambassador of Luxembourg, Eric Dietz, stated that an academic and research ecosystem should be created in Kosovo to connect with those existing in his country.
He considered Kosovo a success story, with proven professionals, people with excellent skills, and abundant talent.
The ambassador mentioned fields such as digitalization, information technology, and the green transition, where cooperation can occur between the University of Prishtina and the university in Luxembourg.
He noted that we must move together in Europe to compete with other global economies, taking China as an example. He stated that scientific research in Kosovo needs to be more connected with the private sector and work for the country's economy.
Rector Hajrullahu said that the University of Prishtina has the willingness, capacity, and potential to enhance cooperation with Luxembourg and its industry.
The Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Academic Exchange, Rozafa Basha, who was also in the meeting with Ambassador Dietz, discussed the possibility of Luxembourg helping the Faculty of Medicine at UP, particularly in the field of midwifery education, as infant mortality during birth and in the early years of life in Kosovo remains very high.
The Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, along with the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Prishtina, have begun collaboration with the University of Luxembourg.
