The Israeli Ambassador to Kosovo, Tammy Ziv, and the Rector of the University of Prishtina, Arben Hajrullahu, agreed in a meeting that university cooperations can strengthen the bridges of friendship between the two peoples and states.
Rector Hajrullahu informed his distinguished guest that the University of Prishtina is interested in advancing the existing cooperation between the Faculty of Education at UP and Israeli universities into the fields of agriculture, information technology, and water management.
Ambassador Ziv stated that Israel is the number one country in the world for water management and suggested cooperation between UP and Technion — Israel Institute of Technology for this purpose and for information technology.
The ambassador mentioned that the Hebrew University in Jerusalem has a very good agriculture program. She also praised the Volcani Governmental Research Institute for this field.
A student from Kosovo in the field of education is currently pursuing a master's degree at the University of Haifa in Israel, and, according to the ambassador, two other students from Kosovo are expected to begin their studies.
Cooperation between the staff and students of Israeli universities and UP have occurred and will continue to occur at the University of Prishtina's Summer University, which this year marks its 25th anniversary.
The meeting with the Israeli Ambassador Tammy Ziv was also attended by the Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Academic Exchange Rozafa Basha, the Dean of the Faculty of Education Blerim Saqipi, and the Director of the Office for Research and Sponsored Projects, Fitim Seferi.
