For the first time in the history of the University of Prishtina, UP Talks a public program for conversation, lectures, and the exchange of ideas launched with an opening ceremony.

This series of lectures and discussions featuring experts, professionals, and well-known figures from around the world and from Kosovo will cover topics that matter to society. The sessions will be recorded and stored on the University of Prishtina's website, where they will be available to the public.

The formal opening of UP Talks was led by Professor Rozafa Basha, Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Academic Exchange, with Donika Emini, an expert in international relations, Western Balkan politics, and regional cooperation, serving as the moderator.

Speaking about the initiative, Vice-Rector Basha said that through UP Talks, the University of Prishtina addresses issues that are important to society. "It is a platform where academic knowledge steps beyond the classroom and becomes part of the public space," she stressed.

Professor Zanfina Ademi, who teaches health economics at Monash University, the University of Eastern Finland, and the University of Prishtina, then began her lecture titled "Who Decides on Our Health?"

By getting the audience involved through answering a few health-related questions on their phones, Professor Zanfina Ademi noted that health does not start in the hospital, but much earlier, and is closely tied to lifestyle. She emphasized that while technological advances are essential, technology does not make decisions, people do.

After the lecture, Professor Zanfina Ademi took questions from the audience.

Also attending the opening of UP Talks were Vice-Rectors Majlinda Gjelaj, Adem Beha, and Avni Hajdari, along with professors from the University of Prishtina and representatives from various institutions and organizations. The lecture was supported by the Open Society Foundation — Western Balkans.

Professor Zanfina Ademi has already given several lectures at the University of Prishtina. She is the most cited Albanian female professor in the world and one of eight academics from the diaspora, working at the world's top 400 universities, who are affiliated with the University of Prishtina.
