In the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) rankings, the most prestigious global platform for evaluating higher education institutions, the University of Prishtina achieved its most significant improvement to date: a 66% increase in scientific research quality compared to 2024.
The University of Prishtina, the only higher education institution (public or private) from Albanian-speaking regions in the Western Balkans included in the THE World University Rankings since 2023 (among 2,000 universities across 115 countries), also advanced in three additional indicators used to measure international university performance.
UP rose by 9.35% in the research environment category, while its industry engagement criterion improved by 9.24%. Teaching quality also increased by 7.63%, all compared to the previous year.

Among the six study areas evaluated by the platform, Education emerged as the University of Prishtina’s strongest field, ranking in the 601+ position, while Business and Economics were placed in the 801+ bracket.
Times Higher Education (THE), the world’s leading university ranking platform, publishes two distinct global rankings for higher education institutions. The first assesses universities’ overall performance in scientific research, teaching quality, and citation impact. The second evaluates institutions’ contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As thousands of high school graduates from Albanian-speaking regions in the Western Balkans prepare to conclude their secondary education, the University of Prishtina continues to solidify its international reputation as their premier choice for launching and advancing academic careers.
