Barbara L. Grub, a general services officer at the U.S. Embassy, donated over 100 of her scientific and non-fiction books to the University of Prishtina.
Grub, who holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Anthropology from the University of Washington, delivered the books to the Institute of Anthropology at the University of Prishtina, as many of them relate to this field of study.
The donated collection, gathered by Grub over the years, also includes linguistic, historical, and diplomatic books.
The books were received by Arsim Canolli, Director of the Institute of Anthropology at the Faculty of Philosophy, alongside the institute’s professor, Tahir Latifi.
The American official conceived the idea to donate her books to the university while accompanying former Ambassador Jeffrey M. Hovenier during the inauguration of the Institute of Anthropology on October 3, 2024. The institute was established with $16,000 in U.S. financial aid through the "University Support Grant."
On that day, Rector Arben Hajrullahu presented Ambassador Hovenier with the "Ulpiana Fest" award, symbolized by a metal artifact previously discovered at the ancient site of Ulpiana.
