The International Summer University of Prishtina staged a grand opening ceremony

The International Summer University of Prishtina (PISU 2023) has been officially inaugurated on George Bush Street, right in front of the rectorate building of the University of Prishtina.

Present at this grand ceremony were the Rector of the University of Prishtina, Dr. Qerimi, the Vice-rector Basha Jakupi, the Mayor of the Municipality of Prishtina, Mr. Përparim Rama, General Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mr. Behar Isma, Advisers of the Presidency of Kosovo, Ms. Rejhan Vuniqi and Prof. Dr. Vehbi Miftari, Ms. Bora Shpuza from the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Ms. Nora Latifi from the Board of the United States- Kosovo Educational Exchange (USKEB), Deans, Vice Deans, local and international Professors, students, and other stakeholders.

Rector Qerimi welcomed everyone to the 22nd edition of PISU 2023, which was officially launched in front of the university's headquarters. On this occasion, the Rector praised the beginning of the International Summer University of Prishtina, which will last from July 3 to July 14 in the official schedule. The Rector underlined that this summer university offers 14 special course options, and all those present will have an attractive experience thanks to the participatory discussion. The Rector added that the dedicated platform serves as a reminder that the university is more than a place to learn and that it encourages debate and critical thinking.

At its opening, as partners in PISU, Mayor Rama from the Municipality of Prishtina was present, who evaluated the progress and emphasized that the location of the university in front of the rectorate is ideal for starting a university of this type. Major Rama thanked the university staff and all the organizers for strengthening this platform for academic advancement, which brought everyone together in the center of Prishtina.

The General Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mr. Behar Isma, reflected on his educational background and the time he attended this university before. Secretary, Mr. Isma, concluded by wishing success in the university's future endeavors and in the university's interactions with international students who have chosen PISU.

In addition to thanking the organizers, Ms. Bora Shpuza from the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation said that the event contributes to society by working with others and commemorating new achievements every year. Ms. Shpuza appreciated the opportunities for new friendships, cooperative relations, and intercultural contacts.

Present at the ceremony, Ms. Nora Latifi from the Board of the United States of America-Kosovo Educational Exchange (USKEB), appreciated the main aim of the board, which is to improve and advance the ties between the United States and Kosovo. In her speech, Ms. Latifi pointed out that one of the biggest beneficiaries of the activities directed by USKEB is the University of Prishtina.

In the framework of the official opening of PISU, a wide variety of amazing activities and wonderful music were made possible by the Faculty of Arts, with Prof. Lule Elezi on the piano and Prof. Antonio Gashi on the cello.
