The University of Prishtina, in an expanded partnership with Japanese universities

The Rector of the University of Prishtina, Qerim Qerimi, and the Charge d'Affaires at the Embassy of Japan in Kosovo, Mr. Keisuke Yamanaka, accompanied by Mr. Arbër Myftari, Senior Adviser for Political and General Affairs, and the Secretariat met to discuss cooperation and the establishment of new partnerships in higher education between the two countries' universities.

During the meeting, Rector Qerimi underlined the need for growing the connection with Japan and supporting present courses in science and computer engineering in a way to make the Japanese reality more authentic in Kosovo, which is done by trying to increase cooperation in higher education.

While Mr. Keisuke Yamanaka, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Japan in Kosovo, stressed his commitment to growing cooperation with the University of Prishtina and Japanese universities, which seek to foster the growth of joint research activities, seminars, and exchange programs,

Following this conversation, Rector Qerimi noted that not only Japanese students have visited Kosovo for research and summer courses, but also Japanese professors have lectured on leadership and technology. "When you think about how important technology is today—even after the COVID-19 pandemic—this has been extremely useful for the university", highlighted Rector Qerimi. Even more, because Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Kosovo is a field with bright potential, there has been a rise in the number of female students studying in this field, especially compared to the region. Information, technology, and ICT in general are part of Kosovo's future, the rector concluded.

The closing comments were made by the Rector Qerimi, and Mr. Keisuke Yamanaka, Chargé d'Affaires at the Japanese Embassy in Kosovo, both of whom highlighted their determination to build new partnerships that will deepen university cooperation.
