The Faculty of Philology

The Faculty of Philology offers two PhD study programs as listed below:

  • Linguistics, PhD, 180 ECTS

The doctoral program in Linguistics is a study program that has been offered at the Faculty of Philology for decades as an important segment of this institution. Due to the specific nature of the research, it is a program that differs from the master and bachelor studies in terms of prestige which has been established throughout the years and because of the important results it has given in the field of linguistics in general and in the field of comparative linguistic studies in particular, especially in Albanology. This research program is offered to all graduates in the fields of philology including here: Albanology and foreign languages, graduates in the field of history and art criticism, studies of cultural anthropology, graduates in humanities related to studies of linguistics. In-depth linguistic research and studies with an impact on society and on the science of linguistics itself remain a priority of this program.

The doctoral program in the field of linguistics is built on the need for higher education to prepare distinguished scholars in this field and on the need to acquire knowledge that will enable candidates to creatively and through concrete research solve language-related social problems. Moreover, this program is designed on the need for the internationalization of research work within the University. In addition, the program is based on relevant to date studies in the field of research and the study of linguistics conducted at the Faculty of Philology, on the long experience created with third cycle of studies at the faculty level, research and expertise of the staff to mentor doctoral candidates as well as on the continuous research by staff and candidates in a combined form to achieve certain scientific results in the field.

The doctoral program in Literature is a study program that has been offered at the Faculty of Philology for decades and is an important segment of this institution. Due to the specific nature of the research, the program differs from the master and bachelor studies in terms of the prestige created throughout the years due to the important results it has achieved in the field of literature in general and in the field of comparative literature studies in particular, especially in Albanology. This research program is offered to all graduates in the fields of philology such as Albanology and literature, to graduates in the field of history and art criticism, cultural anthropology studies, to graduates in humanities related to studies of literature. In-depth literature research and studies that have an impact on the society and on the science of literature itself remain a priority of this program.
