Visiting Researchers from the Faculty of Law, University of Prishtina, Kosovo

Context of the project

The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR or Centre) and the Faculty of Law of the University of Prishtina (Faculty of Law), Kosovo, are cooperating in the context of the Erasmus + Global Mobility. The main aims of this cooperation are the following:

1. Join scholarly and pedagogical expertise to advance research-based teaching in the fields of human rights, transitional justice, democracy and rule of law. Encourage individual or joint publications on these fields, based on the research stays part of planned academic staff mobilities.

2. Expand the teaching of human rights-related courses in English at the University of Prishtina and renew course curricula at the NCHR Master program (focusing respectively on transitional justice and on international human rights mechanisms and procedures.).

3. Develop doctoral research courses on international human rights methodology and transitional justice challenges, aimed at improving the research skills of young researchers.

We invite applications from junior researchers working at the Faculty of Law for a research stay of a maximum of 30 days at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights. The expenses for this mobility are covered in line with the Erasmus + rules. Based on the applications received, we will select 2 (two) applicants.

Requirements and information for the applicants

The individual applicants should be officially affiliated with the Faculty of Law. Applications needs to contain the following documents:

1. A letter of motivation (maximum 2 pages), explaining briefly how this short research stay will help the applicant’s research agenda, as well as an indication of the preferred time of the research stay. Please note that the project ends 31 July 2023 and preferably the stay should be before the end of June 2023.

2. A CV (maximum 4 pages, containing education, work experience, and a list of main publications and selected presentations).

 

3. A short project proposal (maximum 2 pages), outlining the intended research to be carried out in Oslo and related plans and tentative timeline for publication (and publication channel, if known). The topic of this research needs to be part of a PhD program, or a specific publication project to be undertaken and completed during the stay. The areas of this individual research are limited to the field of human rights, transitional justice, democracy and rule of law.

In the course of their stay at the NCHR, the visiting researchers will make a presentation of their research project and draft paper (week 3 or 4). The format will be a short seminar of 1 hour (30 minutes presentation + 30 minutes Q&A).
